During an interview with Rachel Smith at the Variety and “Entertainment Tonight” red carpet Golden Globes pre-show, Amy Adams discussed the upcoming adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel Klara and the Sun. The adaptation is set to star Jenna Ortega as Klara, Mia Tharia as Josie, and Amy Adams as Josie’s mother.
“It was just a wonderful experience working on it. Jenna is fantastic in it, and it should be a lot of fun and a really deep examination of [the] sort of things we are dealing with on a human level,” shared Adams.
Adams was nominated at the 2025 Golden Globes for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture for her performance in Nightbitch.

The adaptation of Ishiguro’s bestselling novel is set to release this year. The film follows AF (Artificial Friend) Klara, played by Ortega, as she gets bought from the store to spend her days with Josie, played by Mia Tharia. The dystopian novel is told from Klara’s point of view as she navigates life as a robot who is solar-powered eventually going on a journey to find the Sun. Taika Waititi is set to direct the film for Sony’s 3000 Pictures.
