Seeing The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood adapted into film was not on our 2025 bingo card, but here we are! Lili Reinhart, known for starring in the CW drama Riverdale and countless other iconic on-screen parts, announced the project on her Instagram with an exclusive from Deadline. Not only is Reinhart to star in the adaptation, but she is also set to executive produce the film.

Set at Stanford University, the bestselling spicy rom-com novel follows Olive Smith, a third-year PhD candidate, and Dr. Adam Carlsen, who get involved in a fake relationship– Need we say more? According to the Deadline exclusive, Amazon has secured Claire Scanlon as director, Sarah Rothschild as script writer, Elizabeth Cantillon as producer, and Reinhart, Catherine Hagedorn, and Hazelwood as executive producers.

After reading the book in 2022, our review was definitely a 5 out of 5 stars on Goodreads. The pacing in the novel was phenomenal, there is spice but not too much to be overdone, and we can’t forget the cheesy epilogue. With how incredible the book was, it’s no shock that it has over 1.6 million ratings reviews on Goodreads, with 175,000 written reviews.

Reinhart’s announcement brought fans front and center with excitement, as well as many of her former costars.

“Ahhhh I loved this book I’m so excited,” said Riverdale costar Madelaine Petsch on Reinhart’s post.

Camila Mendes also showed her support for Reinhart on the post, saying, “That’s my girllll.”

Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video, all involved in the project, commented on the post with “Nice to meet you Olive Smith,” and “love is in the air.”

As the news circulates, fans are now spiraling, trying to find out who will play Dr. Adam Carlsen, to which Reinhart commented back, “👀 soon” to a fan who asked. No other updates have come out since the announcement, but based on Reinhart’s comment, fans can expect to meet Adam very soon.
