‘Beach Read’ is the Ultimate Moody Writer’s Retreat

Emily Henry has done it again, and let tell you how.

“That last page ache” described in Book Lovers is pretty accurate for Beach Read as well. I have found myself so emotionally attached to January and Gus; I am so sad this book had to end.

Not only did it end beautifully, wrapped in a neat little bow, as Gus would put it, but the pacing…. My goodness the pacing in this novel was incredible. Nothing moved too fast. Everything felt so natural. I found myself aching, nervous, anxious, laughing and crying all while reading this. 

What a beautiful book. Truly. I get so connected to characters based in book writing and publishing scenarios (which is why I think I’m in love with Emily Henry at this point? Hello?), because that is so close to home for me as a writer. I love that she spins this connection into her novels. It really helps me connect with the characters. 

The setting in this novel was so moody and perfect. I caught myself wondering if I should buy my own house there where it was nice and stormy, but also cold and sunny. 

This story is a beautiful way to capture such a beautiful story between two people who are hurting so deeply. I want to read it all over again and it be for the first time.
