I finally went to Mystic Falls, and it isn’t in Virginia.
As a lover of all things The Vampire Diaries, I couldn’t pass up a trip to see Mystic Falls while passing through Covington, Georgia, on my honeymoon. You can either pay for a tour from the cute little stores around Town Square, or drive around fangirling in the comfort of your own car. Here’s how you can spend a few hours in Mystic Falls as a TVD fan.
Lunch at the Mystic Grill
First stop: lunch for a delicious burger and a blood bag (filled with red wine). The food was amazing, and the service was top tier. The inside doesn’t look the same as the show, but it still pays tribute to the characters with bar seat plaques, photos, menu items, and Brother’s Bond Bourbon. There is a cute little shop under the Mystic Grill right next to Stab Alley (if you’ve seen the show, you know the one), and I am the proud owner of a Mystic Grill sweatshirt. Move over Matt Donovan, because there’s a new bartender in town. The shop is covered wall to wall with clothes Stefan, Damon, Elena, etc. wore throughout the show. There are so many props and real items; it’s a fan’s dream.
Tour the Streets to See Character Houses
If you choose to pay for the tour done by the stores in town, you get all exclusive access to the Lockwood Manor; I, however, chose to fangirl in my car driving around the entire town. I even got to drive through the Mystic Falls cemetery and see the Haunted Witches Manor. Of course, people really live in these homes, so I didn’t snap any photos. See the Lockwood house, Elena’s house, Caroline’s house, and Gram’s house, the places they had the school dances, and so much more. Feeling epic? After touring, don’t miss out on stopping to admire the clock tower.
